Allie Hanes

It is with great pleasure that we introduce our daughter Alexandra Gia Hanes, also known as Allie! Our journey began when Allie failed her newborn hearing screening in the hospital. After many failed hearing tests, we completed a sleep deprived ABR and Allie was diagnosed with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss. This came as quite a shock to us because there is no family history of hearing loss in either of our families. Fortunately, Allie was diagnosed very young and received her hearing aids at just 6 weeks old. That same day she received her hearing aids we drove to Clarke School and Allie started speech therapy. Yes, at just 6 weeks old she began therapy! In just a short time we have already started to see progress with Allie. She is listening and responding to spoken language at a level appropriate to her age. Clarke School has given us a sense of hope that our daughter will be able to hear and have a spoken language like other children her age.
Clarke School provides education to deaf and hard of hearing children tuition free. Their ability to support our family and many others partially comes from donations, and that is why we would like to raise money for such an amazing school that has already provided so much support to our family.
