Team Abbi

Team Abbi raises funds for Clarke in honour of past Clarke student Abigail Mehaffey.  

Abbi is 21 years old, profoundly deaf, and intellectually disabled. She received her implant at 23 months of age and was one of the first children with multiple disabilities to receive a cochlear implant. Because of Abbi's other disabilities, sign language was not the best option and giving her access to sound opened up the world of communication to her. Abbi began receiving speech services at Clarke at 10 months of age when she began using hearing aids. Though not the "ideal" cochlear implant recipient and user, having access to sound and training received through Clarke has provided her with the means to communicate she would not have had otherwise. We are proud to be supporters of the Clarke program for the past 20 years and for many more years to come. Happy Hearing!
